The Children’s Fitness Tax Credit (CFTC) is a refundable tax credit to a maximum of $1,000. The doubling of the maximum amount will be effective for the 2014 tax year and subsequent tax years, and the credit will be made refundable effective for the 2015 and subsequent tax years.
The tax credit was originally introduced in 2006 to encourage physical fitness among children. The government says it applies to 850,000 families.
